Comparison
Sporcle alternative for iPhone
Manymo plays the one Sporcle format people mean when they say Sporcle: a prompt, a timer, and type as many as you can. It is much smaller, and it is a one-time purchase rather than a subscription. Here is the honest version of both sides.
Short answer: if you want a huge library, stay with Sporcle. If you want the name-them-all format without a subscription, this is the trade.
Side by side
| Sporcle (iOS) | Manymo | |
|---|---|---|
| Library | Advertises more than two million quizzes, largely user made | 24 curated lists, written and source checked by hand |
| Formats | Map and picture quizzes, multiple choice, crosswords, matching and more | Typed recall only. One prompt, one timer, one field |
| Price | Free with ads. Sporcle Orange is listed at $5.99 per month or $59.99 per year, plus a Florins currency | Free with ads. Manymo Pro is $4.99 once, no subscription and no currency |
| Ads in the free tier | Ad supported between quizzes | At most one interstitial per session, never in the first three rounds, never within three rounds or three minutes of the last |
| Offline | A catalogue of that size is served over the network | All content ships inside the app, every round works offline |
| Account | Account based, so your history and badges follow your profile | No account. Everything stays on the device, and nothing follows you to a new phone |
Sporcle figures above are taken from its App Store listing as shown in September 2026. Check the listing for current prices.
Where Sporcle is genuinely better
Size, and it is not close. Two million quizzes against 24 lists is not a gap you argue your way out of. If you want a quiz on Premier League top scorers, Simpsons episodes or the kings of Portugal, Sporcle has it and Manymo never will.
Formats. Map quizzes, picture rounds, crosswords and matching are all real exercises that Manymo does not offer at all. A blank map quiz in particular is the right tool for learning where things are, and typing names will not replace it.
Community and history. An account, a public profile, badges across thousands of quizzes and other people making new ones every day. Manymo has none of that by design, which also means your progress does not move to a new phone.
Track record. Its App Store listing shows 4.7 out of 5 from around four thousand ratings. Manymo has no App Store ratings at all yet, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest.
Where Manymo is the better trade
One payment. $4.99 once against $5.99 a month. If the only thing you want removed is the ads, a lifetime unlock costs less than the first month of the subscription.
A ceiling on ads that is written into the game. One interstitial per session at most, and only on a results screen. There is a grace period of three rounds for a new player, a minimum of three rounds and three minutes between interstitials, and a hard session cap of one. Those are conditions in the code, not settings someone can raise remotely.
Answer matching that does not fight you. The complaint that shows up under every typing quiz is that correct answers get rejected. Manymo strips case, accents, ß and punctuation before comparing, keeps alternative names for every answer, and allows one typo when a single answer is that close. A wrong entry never costs points.
It works with no connection. Both content packs ship inside the app, so a round on the underground behaves exactly like a round at home.
German content written in German. Bundesländer, Landeshauptstädte, Kanzler, Bundespräsidenten and the 80 German cities over 100,000 people come from the German sources, not from a translated English list.
Which one you should install
- Take Sporcle if you want variety above all, if you like map and picture formats, or if a shared profile and a long quiz history matter to you.
- Take Manymo if the format you actually play is name-them-all, if you would rather pay once than monthly, if you play offline, or if you want German lists that were written in German.
- Both are free to install, so this is not really a decision you have to get right first time.
24 lists, 14 of them free
Countries, capitals, US states, presidents, prime ministers, World Cup winners and the periodic table. Type what you remember against the clock.
Free on iPhone, iOS 18 or later. Manymo Pro is one payment of $4.99, no subscription. Works offline, no account.
